The first time you sign into Portal, you will be asked to choose your preferred authentication method. Once configured this method will be used during each subsequent sign-in.
Authentication is performed by approving a request for authentication sent to an app installed on your smartphone.
Setup
- When setting up Multi-Factor Authentication, Portal will prompt you to choose from three options. Click "Setup" under the Okta Verify section.

Select your smartphone's platform: Either "iPhone" or "Android". You will be provided with the correct link for your device to download the Okta Verify app. Ensure you have downloaded and installed the app on your smartphone and click "Next".

Portal will display a QR code. Open the Okta Verify app and tap "Add Account", then select "Organization" as the account type.

When prompted, tap "Yes, Ready to Scan".

Scan the code with your smartphone's camera and a 6-digit code will be displayed on your phone's screen. Click "Next" to continue, and you will displayed a success message to confirm the authentication was configured correctly.
Signing in with Okta Verify
Once you have entered your username, click the "Send Push" button to send a notification to your smartphone. Approve the request in the Okta Verify app to continue the sign in process.
Note: Ticking "Send push automatically" in Portal will mean the notification will be sent to your phone immediately the next time you sign in, without the need for you to click the "Send Push" button.
Authentication is performed by opening the Google Authenticator app installed on your smartphone and typing the 6-digit code provided into the textbox provided in Portal.

Open the Google Authenticator app on your smartphone.
If don't already have the app, click the button below to download. You will need to sign in with your Google account when prompted.

Portal will display a QR code. Open the Google Authenticator app and tap "Scan a QR code". Scan the code with your smartphone's camera and a 6-digit code will be displayed on your phone's screen. Click "Next" to continue.

Enter the 6-digit code displayed within the Google Authenticator app and click "Verify".
If you're unable to scan the QR code with your smartphone's camera, click "Can't scan?" in Portal and manually type the secret key displayed into the app.
Signing in with Google Authenticator
Once you have entered your username, you will prompted to enter a 6-digit code. You will need to open the Google Authenticator app to retrieve this. Type the code into the textbox provided and click "Verify" to continue the sign in process.
Authentication is performed by opening the Microsoft Authenticator app installed on your smartphone and typing the 6-digit code provided into the textbox provided in Portal.

Although Google Authenticator is recommended, this flow allows you to use other third party authenticator apps (such as Microsoft Authenticator). -
Open the Microsoft Authenticator app on your smartphone.
If don't already have the app, click the button below to download. You will need to sign in with your Microsoft account when prompted.

Tap the + icon in the top right and when prompted to select the type of account being added, tap "Other".
- Use the smartphone's camera to scan the QR code provided by Portal.
- Review the information shown in the authenticator app and tap "Finish" when done. A 6-digit code for Portal will be displayed on the front page of the app.

On Portal, enter this 6-digit code and then click "Verify".
If you're unable to scan the QR code with your smartphone's camera, click "Can't scan?" in Portal and manually type the secret key displayed into the app.
Signing in with Microsoft Authenticator
Once you have entered your username, you will prompted to enter a 6-digit code. You will need to open the Microsoft Authenticator app to retrieve this. Type the code into the textbox provided and click "Verify" to continue the sign in process.
Authentication is performed by opening the WinAuth app installed on your Windows PC and typing the 6-digit code provided into the textbox provided in Portal.

Although Google Authenticator is recommended, this flow allows you to use other third party authenticator apps (such as WinAuth). -
Open the WinAuth app on your Windows PC.
If don't already have the app, click the button below to download. Install and open the app, then proceed to step 2.

In the WinAuth app, click "Add". From the menu that appears, click "Authenticator".
- From the dialog box presented, enter "Portal" into the Name field.

You will now need to retrieve a secret code from Portal. To do so, click "Can't scan?" beneath the QR code displayed.
- Copy this secret code to your clipboard and paste it into the field provided in WinAuth.
- In the WinAuth app, ensure "Time-based" is selected and then click "Verify authenticator". WinAuth will output a 6-digit code in the dialog box.

On Portal, enter this 6-digit code and then click "Verify".
- Once verified by Portal, click "OK" in WinAuth to save the configuration.
Signing in with WinAuth
Once you have entered your username, you will prompted to enter a 6-digit code. You will need to open the WinAuth app to retrieve this. Type the code into the textbox provided and click "Verify" to continue the sign in process.
Authentication is performed by receiving an SMS or phone call on your mobile phone and typing the 6-digit code provided into the textbox provided in Portal.
Setup
- When setting up Multi-Factor Authentication, Portal will prompt you to choose from three options. Click "Setup" under the Phone section.

After you have selected Phone Authentication, choose between SMS and phone call authentication using the radio buttons provided. Enter your mobile phone number and click "Receive a code" when ready to receive the code needed to complete the Multi-Factor Authentication setup.

Depending on your selection earlier, you will either receive an SMS or phone call that will provide you with the 6-digit code. Enter the code into the textbox provided and click "Verify".
Signing in with SMS Authentication
Once you have entered your username, you will prompted to enter a 6-digit code. Click the "Receive a code" button to receive an SMS or phone call with the code needed for sign-in. Type the code into the textbox provided and click "Verify" to continue the sign in process.
